LONDON — Heathrow Airport Holdings has formally selected Daifuku Airport Technologies for a comprehensive multi-million-pound upgrade of the Baggage Handling System (BHS) in Terminal 2 (The Queen's Terminal).

The contract encompasses the integration of Daifuku's high-speed Individual Carrier System (ICS) and an automated Early Bag Storage (EBS) facility capable of holding over 3,000 bags. The tote-based carrier architecture enables continuous 100% bag tracking at transport velocities up to 10 meters per second, directly satisfying IATA Resolution 753 compliance requirements.

The modernization will eliminate transfer bottlenecks between Terminal 2 and Satellite 2B, ensuring seamless transfer processing for Star Alliance carrier alliance flights.
