SINGAPORE — Changi Airport Group (CAG) has finalized technical specifications for a 12-kilometer high-speed Individual Carrier System (ICS) that will form the logistics backbone of Changi Terminal 5.

The system links the new 50-million PAX mega-terminal with Terminals 1, 2, and 3 through sub-apron tunnels. Capable of handling 15,000 bags per hour during peak interline transfer banks, the design incorporates autonomous sorting shuttles and predictive maintenance sensors to achieve a projected mishandled baggage rate of less than 1.5 per 1,000 PAX.

Ground civil excavation for the baggage tunnels commenced earlier this quarter alongside apron foundation piling.
